It may not be be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Perfect for young learners of Spanish and an ideal introduction to the animal kingdom in Spanish. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both***masculine and feminine***, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in Spanish too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with Spanish, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators. There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games: Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in Spanish, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in Spanish. Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall Deck 3: word-only cards in French, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling. Deck 4: word-only cards in English, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall Deck 5: both Spanish & English words on a single card, useful for close comparison of language, and recognition of corresponding words The animals featured are: a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a caterpillar : a chicken : a cow : a dog a donkey : a duck : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a pig : a rabbit : a sheep : a spider : a turtle / tortoise Have a browse in my store for more Spanish games cards, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles and lots of freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an ow : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel a turtle / tortoise : a wolf There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in excellent condition for years. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

PRIMARY SPANISH ANIMALS KS2 SPANISH ANIMALS KS3 SPANISH ANIMALS I HAVE WHO HAS? Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Spanish. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - I point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents too - such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word. The aim of the game is to create a Spanish sentence chain as quickly as possible, starting with Tengo la primera tarjeta, and ending with the final card, Tengo la última tarjeta. The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are beginning to familiarise themselves with the written word, and starting to link spelling with sound. There are 25 animals featured in the game: bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle All the animals may not be in my immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply practicing or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practicing particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: I’ve found this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more! Laminate the cards if you can: they’re far more learner-friendly, and last in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to use them over and over again. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources, including Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles, and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

EFL ESL ENGLISH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN CHRISMTAS I HAVE WHO HAS? BEGINNER ENGLISH CHRISTMAS I HAVE, WHO HAS? The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for regular use in the run-up to Christmas. I created it for the EFL / ESL classroom, and it works really well for learners across a broad spectrum of ages and stages of learning. It’s great to learn some English Christmas vocabulary, though I don’t expect my language learners to learn all of them, as the goals of the game are about speaking, listening and reading in English, and introducing learners to different Christmas traditions and practices through the images, rather than simply building vocabulary. There’s definitely a UK-theme with some of the images, such as Christmas cracker and mince pies. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. Learners walk around, talking to each other and working together to create the chain. It’s perfect for pronunciation and reading out loud practice too. I’ve included a***whole-group presentation*** to prepare learners for the words in the game, and I also use it to talk about Christmas traditions we know, in the UK and beyond. The aim of the game is to create an alphabetical word chain, with a couple of cards slightly out of order to keep learners on their toes! This can either be a ‘human’ chain, though having learners work together to create an alphabetical line on a table, or even on the floor works really well too. There are 32 Christmas cards, so perfect for very large groups. With smaller groups, some players can simply have two cards, or select another card when they have already placed their first card in the chain. The first and last cards have I have the first card and It’s the last card - Happy Christmas written on them. Learners love it when you play too! I use the presentation to work on pronunciation, and to embed vocabulary a little more - it’s great for spelling games and quizzes too. Laminate the cards if you can - they’re far more learner-friendly, and you’ll be able to use them for years to come! It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These English Christmas Numbers 0-31 task cards are perfect for advanced beginner English learners, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practising language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester. The questions are entirely in English, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of English in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context and images, which have a real England/UK Christmas theme, such as Christmas crackers and mince pies, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarize themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have regular and frequent opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. The English Christmas vocabulary provides a really useful springboard for discussion about Christmas customs and traditions in England and the UK, comparing and contrasting these to other Christmas practices students may know. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Laminating is definitely worth the extra expense and prep time, as the cards as far more learner-friendly, and last for absolutely years. answer key & answer recording sheet question card template for students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element in successful language learning, and is a really popular activity too. GCSE FRENCH ER VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH -ER VERBS This kind of grammar activity is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French verbs, and it’s a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are***150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges***, with an answer key booklet. I always give my students an answer key with this kind of workbook, as it facilitates independent learning, and they genuinely enjoy self and peer-assessment. Having an answer key also gives them an additional opportunity to engage with language and grammar. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. They also use this page to note any new verbs they learn, which helps them build up a comprehensive verb vocabulary. It’s also a useful tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity with my students. *6-page answer key booklet * Try this free conjugation workbook sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-verbs-conjugation-practice-sampler-12307809 Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, with a wide range of French language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GCSE FRENCH ER VERBS SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH -ER VERBS This kind of grammar activity is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French verbs, and it’s a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, with an answer key booklet. 6-page answer key booklet Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, with a wide range of French language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! ALEVEL FRENCH CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency French verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys & verbs lists ideal for***A Level French*** students who are working with more complex language and texts, including a wide range of authentic resources, and developing their knowledge and understanding of tense and mood in French. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language, with the grammar of the language they are learning. Students whose first language is English often look for a direct equivalent of would, similar to when they first meet the conditional tense for example, or they may use***avoir*** instead of être for verbs which require être as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs être and avoir in the conditional tense , as well as the patterns for forming the relevant past participles, in order to ensure that they can form the conditional perfect tense accurately. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key The product is non-editable in a zipped format. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English, I frequently see students looking for a word that is the equivalent of would, until they familiarise themselves with the fact that the notion of conditional is indicated in the verb ending. It’s also easy to confuse the simple future tense endings with the conditional tense endings, and targeted practice helps to address that really well.
